So, last night when Nate was doing his typical 20 minutes after bedtime routine on the potty we had a very funny/sweet conversation that I want to share. It had two main paths that intertwined, but I can't really remember how so I'm just going to split them up.
Part one: Marriage proposal
He leaned forward to give me a kiss with his mouth wide open
Me: Why are you kissing like that?
Nate: For a wedding! Don't you want to get married?
Me: I can't, I'm already married!
Nate: (Disappointed) To who?
Me: Daddy!
Nate: Oh, ok... Who am I going to marry?
Me: I don't know, but I'm sure she will be a very lucky girl.
Part two: Kissing Cousins
He leaned forward to give me a kiss with his mouth wide open
Me: You can't kiss people in your family like that.
Nate: Like Nonna?
Me: No, Nonna is part of your family.
Nate: Janelle?
Me: No, Janelle is part of your family.
Nate: Who can I kiss like that?
Me: Other girls who aren't in your family... And only if they want you to! And you won't be kissing anyone like that for a long time.
Nate: When can I kiss like that?
Me: When you're 13.
Nate: Will I be big?
Me: You'll be medium-sized.
Me: How did you learn about this? (Referring to weddings and open-mouthed kisses.)
Nate: Ariel (with his mouth open and head tilted)
Me: Oh, thanks Disney!
Conversations like that make me very happy to have a little boy! And I find it funny that this conversation happened the same day that while we were playing outside three little girls came outside and made it halfway toward Nate before they ran back into their yard giggling, and then they did it again. I have a heart breaker on my hands!
Little boys are the cutest! Love this story!
ReplyDeleteAnd I've gotten a few marriage proposals since then, including one suggesting I be married to both him and his daddy! Maybe I should ask him what he thinks being married means. :)
